MICASA Guest Onboarding Redesign

Simplified event discovery for guests with deferred signup and invite code entry

Built by 2 people (Team 07) · July 2025 · Micasa Hackathon, 2025/06

What it does

The team redesigned the guest onboarding experience for MICASA, an event platform. Guests can now explore events without creating an account. Sign-up happens only when needed, such as at ticket purchase. The redesign includes an invite code feature that lets users jump directly to specific events, reducing early friction and improving discoverability. The solution introduces a dashboard-first layout where users land directly on the main interface, browse freely, and are prompted to sign up only before taking action. Progressive disclosure unfolds information as users explore, with minimal barriers to entry.

How we built it

The team conducted a UX audit of platforms including Eventbrite, Airbnb Experiences, Giggster, Peerspace, and Fiverr to identify friction points in onboarding, collaboration, and navigation. They performed persona analysis focused on first-time guests with low patience for setup barriers. Using Figma, they created low-fidelity and high-fidelity wireframes and prototypes. The design prioritized explorability, role clarity, and reduced cognitive load through progressive onboarding and deferred signup patterns.

Impact

First-time users face less friction when discovering events. The redesign addresses the problem of account creation prompts appearing too early, poor platform understanding before sign-up, and lack of low-commitment ways to engage. The team reports higher engagement rate from first-time users, increased event discoverability before login, and smoother re-entry for returning guests.
