About This Challenge

Proto-OKN project Name: Proto-OKN Theme 1: DREAM-KG: Develop Dynamic, Responsive, Adaptive, and Multifaceted Knowledge Graphs to address homelessness with Explainable AI. Challenge question: Homeless service resources are subject to frequent changes due to several factors. These unpredictable changes in homeless resources create challenges in the provision of the Continuum of Care for People Experiencing Homelessness (PEH). Challenge definition: One imperative challenge is to revise or update the homeless resources knowledge/information from different sources (including raw datasets, knowledge graphs, etc), e.g., errors which should be corrected and outdated knowledge which should be updated. That is, the open problem is how to develop a model editing approach which can not only edit both historical and new knowledge concurrently, but also maintain the effectiveness of learning new knowledge of homeless resources. Market/Society needs: End users: researchers in public health. Workers in the field like police officers and public health - connecting to a mobile phone application and update information and search available data about the homeless person? Or available beds and service to be provided? Best paths to shelters. Available datasets: request more information and check the DREAM-KG website. Teams & Mentors: Example: Yuzhou Chen will mentor Skills needed for the challenge: KG experts: no, but Neo4J experience will be useful Developers: C++, Python KG visualization with Tom Sawyers, Metaphacts Nocode developers for mobile Domain Experts in public health, social workers, people with strong connection with the field would be appreciated either as project managers or mentors for the teams. Incentives for participants: Same skills as the challenge Internships within the University There are recurring open positions in Yuzhou's team Opportunity for students: to be highly visible by Yuzhou's expanding team and project. This hack is a first step Labs in Orlando, LA, Philly, Austin No citizenship limitation Challenge Sponsors: Current sponsor: NSF ProtoOKN. Non-Tech Challenges for SMEs Sponsors: Examples Cities willing to support and use? GENHAX: Connect Yuzhou to NYC veterans shelters, other shelters, and NYC homeless management. Confirm NY State and NYC Options in NJ GENHAX: Connect Yuzhou to Bloomberg for financial support and scaling the operations to the US. SMEs: how to introduce the project to large shelter organizations, or foundations for homeless people?
